Specializing in plein air painting in oils and pastels, Dorothy’s colourful landscapes convey her feelings for the outdoors, whether in Canada or abroad. Mainly self-taught, she has attended workshops with prominent artists in Western Canada and the Maritimes, the U.S.A., Scotland, England and France. Painting outside in all weathers, she attempts to convey a sense of place in her work and reproduce the beauty of each season.
Born in Invergordon, Scotland, emigrated to Canada in 1965, she has lived in Calgary since 1970. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Vancouver, a member of the Oil Painters of America, Pastel Artists Canada, the Leighton Art Foundation, the Canmore Artists and Artisans Guild and the Visual Arts Association of Alberta.
